This stuff tastes like it is of much higher proof than it actually is, so if that's your game this one for you. Very affordable and I like it quite a bit as a "Dark & Stormy". The ginger ale cools it off and allows for the back flavors to come out. I got floral and orange flavors while my buddy said he got almonds and caramel, go ?

On my tops list for sippable rums with lots of flavor.

Not sure if I’m disappointed or not.
Not as dark in the glass as expected, with plenty going on in the aromas.
Smooth enough with little if any burn, and what really lets it down is the almost total lack of aftertaste.
Not tried it as a mixer yet, but who knows, it might come into its own then.
Probably the only Plantation rum that has in some way disappointed.
Enjoy, graham.

Plantation simply knows how to hit the mark. This is a simple straight forward dark rum that covers the bases of zesty, rich taste, versatile for your bar stock needs and done at affordable rates. The rum oozes fragrant fruits and comes out as a simple mixer that makes most cocktails better. It has enough going for it taste wise that it can cover the ground of black rums in a pinch and certainly settles the score for most drinks dressed up well by dark rums. I sometimes wish it was darker, but this is likely just representative of how much closer it is to the purest sensibility that Plantation promises.

Solid results in dark and stormy and rum and coke. This rum added complexity and body and improved the quality of these drinks significantly. A bit more expensive than typical choices and well worth the extra cost.

Nevýrazná vůně následovaná ničím výjimečnou chutí. Pít se dá, ale Republika má lepší poměr cena/potěšení.

This rum is fine. It's fine! Actually, it works rather well as an introduction to traditionally Jamaican hogo flavors. It has a simpler flavor profile than other Jamaican rums, going lighter on the developed , overripe fruity notes and leaning more on baking spices, while also going sweeter. This switch up does kind of give the sweetness of the rum an almost artificial vibe, as it doesn't feel as much like an organic result of the rest of the concoction, with that fruit being taken back.

This does provide a really gentle backdrop for that pot still funkiness to come through. It has a real soft landing. Even my fiance likes this one, though she's not a big fan of drinking liquor straight, or rum, or Jamaican rum in particular.

Speaking of drinking the stuff straight... It's fine. The nature of the drink does make it a natural mixer, though, and even a little bit of something else helps this stuff really shine. I've been having good success mixing a couple of fingers of this stuff with the juice from a quarter of an orange, garnished with an orange wedge. A lazy sipping cocktail that works.

Plantation original dark is a great go-to for so many cocktail recipes. It was not designed to be a sipper, but rather a base for cocktails, which it does exceedingly well. It's great in a Mai Tai.

I find it most enjoyable in the right mix. Don't use to much. In the right amount it's great in a coke.
