Ein Rum für Liebhaber dieses Stils.

Beautiful dark amber in the glass.
Deep and heavy nose, caramel, toffee, dark wood, old wood, sawn wood, extremely complex.
On the palate a wonderful aroma explosion like a mixture of La Hechicera and Dictator. Nuts, licorice, toasted wood, red fruits just to name a few.
In the finish, add a little cocoa to the flavors, ah wonderfully long. 8+
A rum for lovers of this style.

Great nose, good taste, not as sweet as I expected, but with a bit dry and spicy aftertaste in the end. Interesting choice.

denne rom havde jeg egentlig forventet mig meget af, men jeg syntes den virker lidt flad og den forsvinder hurtigt i munden.

Sugar: 0 GPL. This rum is very smooth and dry. Strong flavours from the whiskey casks that it has been aged in are evident. I can taste a bit of nutmeg, caramel, a bit of oak, and a hint of cinnamon but that is probably the whiskey cask effect. In the glass it has a caramel color and has a nice wood and vanilla aroma. It has a soft taste in your mouth with a good burn and a nice lingering glow in your throat. It has some similarities to the Appleton 21, but not as smooth as the 21. From time to time I will mix this with a sweeter rum like Diplomatico to cut down the sweetness of the DRE.

First sip is a bit too much whisky for me, however after a few minutes in the glass it blossoms and becomes quite sweet. Easily competes with rums twice the price of this.

Full body, but short-lived. Nice and smooth. On the dry side. Slightly underwhelming for the price in my opinion

Juan Santos 21 yr Rum

Finally got my hands on a couple of bottles of Juan Santos 21 yr rum and what a treat it has been. In spite of the bottle presentation, which doesn’t do justice to the rum itself, one quickly realizes this is a quality rum with a smoothness that has nothing to do with added sugar or other additives. This is a rum that will appeal to whiskey drinkers or those who appreciate dry rums. Oak, vanilla and cinnamon are all apparent, yet not overwhelming and the flavours linger long after tasting this nectar.

One of the best rums I’ve had but it falls short of a “10” as a result of the bottle presentation and label design.

In the nose: Wood and a little bit of smoke. Same on the tongue, accompanied by vanilla and plum. An aftertaste almost like bourbon. For those who - like me - love dry rum.

Great colour and a softer nose. A drier rum with nice hints from the whiskey cask it is aged in. Caramel an toffee in the flavour but not as pronouced as with others in this class. Where this Rum truly is exceptional is in its smoothness.

For the price this is a great rum and one you should buy if you get the chance.
