Cubaney Centenario 25-30-Year

I compared this liquid treasure with another famous gem from Olivier & Oliver : the Quorhum 30-year.
I must admit that it would be hard to make a choice. Both have a lot in common : gentle nose, deep color, incredible smoothness around vanilla, caramel, dried fruits.
However, I tend to think the Cubaney tastes a little bit more complex. More surprises int the mouth after a initial feel-good sensation. Moreover, the finish of the Cubaney lasts much longer, which would encourage me to have another glass from this one. All in all, these are two must-have for any rum collector on the west side, along with the Plantation XXe anniversary, which shares a lot too with the two rums I compared but on a more fruity and more "gourmand" side.

My favorite rum so far was the 30 anniv. Version of QRM. This one is pretty similar, just even more complex, slightly sweeter and has a great tail...

But... I had the chance to compare it directly with UNHIQ XO, then the excellent cubaney just gets boring compared to the amazing intense, round and sweet taste of the UNHIQ XO. So i keep a 9...

While not the absolute best rum I have had it is truly up there, and at a great price too!
It has a very nice deep oaky caramel flavour and is very smooth with almost no alcohol burn. Maybe not quite as good as the El Dorado 25yo, but much better value for money!

In the glass you first smell some alcohol but after a while you get sweet aromas from toffee, vanilla and almonds. The aftertaste is deep sweetness with a little dark chocolate and vanilla.

Velmi sofistikovaný ale pořád v celku univerzální. Ačkoliv je hodnocený jako suchý je docela nasladlý. Vůně vanilka a dub. Chuť nasladlá a sud. Nedovedu si představit, že by někomu úplně nechutnal.

Excelent rom cu deschidere treptata a aromelor! Nu gasesti la multe romuri asa ceva. Probabil ca si vechimea isi spune cuvantul in povestea asta frumoasa! Un rom deosebit straight sau on the rocks!

Smooth, notes of burnt sugar, vanilla, tobacco, spices.

Smells and tastes of spice, butterscotch, vanilla, oak, and honey, with a small hint of bourbon. This is truly an exceptional rum, though I wouldn't mind just a tad more sweetness. Near the top of the "9" rating scale.

Impossible to go wrong with this one. A truly and distinguishable taste of high quality rum is what it is inside this bottle. Its full body characteristics blend perfectly well giving it a powerful and exquisite tone.
