Real McCoy Single Blended 12-Year

Initially a lot of black pepper / chili? followed by sweetness and clear features from charred bourbon cask (vanilla and some smoke). Soft finish that lasts a long time.

This is the first rum I drank neat. I was surprised at all of the flavors I experienced while sipping. Brown sugar, vanilla and butterscotch are the most prominent to me. Adding a few drops of water really brought out the different flavors, but I know there is much controversy about adding anything to a glass of rum. Reasonably priced as well. A definite winner.

Reminds me of Appleton 21yo. Stronger burn with tones of raisines. Nice aftertaste with cocoa.

Toch ook weer een prima rum van de Foursquare Distilleerderij op Barbados. De rum heeft minimaal 12 jaar gerijpt in ex-bourbon vaten. Smaken en aroma's van molasse, hout, kruiden en salmiak. Geen suiker en kleurstoffen toegevoegd.

I am by no means proficient enough to properly dissect the complexities and flavours in this bottle, but I can tell you that what I taste is one of the better rums that I have tasted. Well worth the cost and easily enjoyed over a block of ice. A new permanent addition to my stock.

The bourbon casks really comes shining through on this rum. It's definitely has that distinctive oak taste but it's not overpowering. It has a nice balance of citrus and banana flavoring with a hint of tobacco. Just another great example of Bajan rum and Foursquare.

The Real McCoy 12-Year Rum tastes younger than other 12 year old rums. I would describe it as unpolished. Yet it has a hint of sweetness to it that reminds me of younger Demerara rums.
