Flasken har en duft af blandet frugtsaft, men allerede i glasset skifter den karakter og smagen er helt anderledes med tørrede frugt smag og dejlig
The bottle is simple, average cost/quality good.
The color is a very nice amber dark, the density is not correct compare the color and the origin. I prefer more dense spirit.
The first flavor on the nose is soft, sweet and low alcohl perception.
On the mouth is very smooth, sweet but balanced, unfortunatly no other flavor grove after, for me is too simple .
Good for beginner
This rum has the best price ratio of all Malecons from 12 to 25.
It's old in the taste, mild and enjoyable. The 25 is a little bit smoother but I think this one would be enough for me, I would not pay more. If you are on budget go for Malecon 15.
There is also a noticeable difference to the Malecon 18.
Malecons are very enjoyable for sweet rum lovers, but they don't contain added sugar. The sweetness comes from the bourbon barrels. They taste light, mild and fruity.
For conaisseurs they could be boringt, because there is not that much complexity. For beginners or not experienced sweet rum lovers they are perfect.
The flavors are light and recognizeable.
I get vanilla, prune, melon, caramel, oak in the nose. The fruits are not very intensive, most of it is vanilla and oak. The sweetness is pleasant, I think it's bourbon like.
I miss again more complexity here, therefore 74 points.
If you are at the beginning of your rum career, this is the next step after the sweet rum.
You wont be shocked or overhelmed, it's an easy sipper for everyone.
Smell: vanilla, prune, melon, caramel, oak

This is one to have in the cabinet for a little sip. Nothing special about the bottle, dark in colour, a little fire and lots of flavour. I will buy when the cabinet is low.
Never hearing of Malecon before, I scored a bottle from Rum Auctioneer in the UK. Very pleasantly surprised very smooth dark amber rum with slight sweet toffee notes followed up by cinnamon and nutmeg. This is a very good rum and value. Bottle and packaging is not impressive but if that keeps the cost down it’s a good thing. Can’t say anything bad about Malecon 21.I’m sorry tasting this again with far superior rums has to go down a notch.
Schmecke keinen unterschied zum 25 schmecken für mich gleich. Der 25 jährige is etwas intensiver.
This is an average rum.
I like the nose better than the taste.
The nose is very fruity and fresh, apple like. The taste is tobacco, vanilla, coffee and apricot. But for me the taste dont last so long. Dies fast.
I must collect something, else i get crazy, so why not Rum?
It is like 15y version. Not really bad but plain and simple.
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label
