This rum cast a spell on me! I first tried it on a night out with friends, so it wasn't the perfect setting to taste it. I do have to say that we bought two bottles and no hangover!

Even though I'm not a big fan of the marketing of solera rums with false age statements on the bottle, this one isn't so misleading since they combine 21 and 15 year old rums.

On the nose you get coffee and chocolate more than anything but also with some vanilla coming through. The first taste is sweet but not a sugar bomb sweet so I'm hoping that it's additive free. You get more chocolate and vanilla with a nice and pleasant aftertaste. All in all a very nice sipper.

It should be a cocktail rum, though if you add some ice it carves the edges down and is drinkable neat. Strong chocolate nose and harsh after-burn .

For me little bit harder to drink -> more as agricol than sweet. For the others I can say it could be 8. From view it is not sweet rum it is very good rum without negative "medical" taste/aroma. You can taste typical rum aroma.

Sweetness -> 4.5/10
Strength -> 6/10

Příjemný dobře vyvážený rum, s přirozenou sladkostí. Neurazí nenadchne.

This is a solera 12 - 20 years old. Alcohol content 40%. Rum is aged in bourbon oak barrels and comes in a nice bottle with a large waxy seal.

Color: Copper with red reflections.
Aroma: At first you can smell vanilla and dark chocolate (cocoa). Furthermore tropical fruits, spices (pepper, cloves and cinnamon). At the end you can smell slightly tobacco and a bourbon wooden barrel. The smell is pleasant, but nothing special.
Taste: Drier and quite watery. It is also quite sharp - it stings the tongue. On the palate you can recognize dark chocolate (cocoa), caramel, stale wood and tobacco. Later it is slightly sweeter, but still sharp.
Aftertaste: medium length
Conclusion: The smell is more pleasant than the taste itself. I'm sorry, but I didn't feel the roasted coffee mentioned in every description. Bitter cocoa instead of it.

Overall rating: 7 points from 10

Rich aroma of dark fruit and some burnt sugar with very little alcohol smell. First sip is very pleasant with a subtle oak and medium sweetness with a dark coffee profile. Slight bite in the throat but a gentle heat in the chest that lingers surprisingly long (might be that Kali Ma ritual from last night). The back end is where the coffee flavor is most noticeable but not overpowering. It makes for some bitterness but in a good way. This rum isn't incredible, but doesn't make many mistakes.

Caramel color pleases the eye. Tobacco and vanilla meets the nose. Very dry on the tongue, compared to most other dark rums I have tasted, again with tobacco and vanilla. A fleeting finish.

It is a fine rum, but nothing I will buy again. In this price range, there is so much better. I was really looking forward to this rum and it is nothing special
