Tasty, but not quite great

Not much in the nose, a bit of smoke maybe, some nut. A bit of toffee in the mouth, wood. Not unpleasant, but this ist not really a great rum for sipping. In the end: smoke, sherry. A bit too much smoke. I think, the history of this rum is more interesting than the rum itself. But still, as the Irish say: Could be worse.
I agree fully with the previous rating of Anders Lundwall.
You can tell it's origin already in the nose. Sweet, not too thick rum,in the nose spices, dried fruits and a little oak.Same on the palate ,additionally brown sugar, molasses and smoke.
The afterburn is a bit harsher as i'm used to (in Dominican rum terms) but its not disturbing as the heat lasts only a few seconds. I think it's because its a really small amount produced and not by a big Company. The origin and history of this rum is very interesting and exciting. As its strongly limited, grab it and add it to your collection. If possible three bottles- one to sip,one to keep and one to trade. The small batch is sold out in a few weeks no matter which year
Tres Hombres first Dominican rum. Tasty, full and very Dominican. The label feels a bit cheap, as does the bottle. They have come a long way since. If you can find this nowadays, it should however absolutely be in your collection.
