Brugal Añejo rum

Brugal Añejo

Dominican Republic | Gold | 40% ABV

Brugal Anejo rum is a blend of rums aged 3 to 5 years in used American white Oak barrels that previously held whiskey and bourbon.

The rum is produced in the Dominican Republic by Brugal & Co., a company that was founded in the late 1800s by the Spaniard Andrés Brugal Montaner. Today, the Brugal rum company remains largely in the control of Montaner's direct descendants.

Smells like oak without the taste. Tastes sweet but bitter also. Good enough to come back to. The price is cheap enough.

Tasted at Laka Lono on 2/20/22. Pours a dark gold color. A bit lackluster. Aroma seems more puerto rican than DR. Mold honey sweetness. Not much here. Boring.

Reminds me of Havana Club. Liked it more than Santiago de Cuba and 1888.
Dry, slightly smoky, easy drinking.
Bought it for peanuts in Lidl in Romania to drink round the campfire. I got no complaints

Not sweet, mixes better with cola and goes well with orange juice. There's nothing special about, what I like that it's not sweet and artificially vanilla flavored.
It delivers for it's price.

It's not bad but I can do better at the price. If I drank mixed drinks I'm sure this would work well. Only 38% now, I'm sure it used to be 40%.

Blanco is better but you need to try, not bad at coctails

Not so bad for such a young rum
Nose: strange, let breathe for a while. It gets better. Dry.
Palate: sweet but also a bit spicy, pleasant , with hints of caramel

Some caramel and a hint of tobacco. Golden amber pour. Light hint of pepper, citrus.

Maybe a six as a mixer. 5 as a sipper. Medium Carmel color. Somewhat rough on the back end. Some leather, some apricot

Way underpriced, some big burn but overall really nice. Huge vanilla sugar up front and way too smooth for the price. Some interesting earthy floral vegetal notes in the finish, almost like cleaning product (but not from the alcohol, more like Saint James). Oaky finish
