Brugal Añejo rum

Brugal Añejo

Dominican Republic | Gold | 40% ABV

Brugal Anejo rum is a blend of rums aged 3 to 5 years in used American white Oak barrels that previously held whiskey and bourbon.

The rum is produced in the Dominican Republic by Brugal & Co., a company that was founded in the late 1800s by the Spaniard Andrés Brugal Montaner. Today, the Brugal rum company remains largely in the control of Montaner's direct descendants.

Not much to say really. I could be biased from drinking this rum in cold rum n'cokes in late night merengue clubs over in DR but then I could also have an incredible taste ;-)

Sip it with a little ice and a splash of water. Add honey if you want.

A bit rough on the edges. Full taste and enough complexity. My favourite for this price range yet.

No taki dziwny. Ma taki wyraźny posmak stęchlizny czy jakiejś beczki. W każdym razie coś z nim nie tak

Not a sipper, but excellent in rum and cokes. It has too much of a bite to be a sipper, but as a mixer, it cuts through nicely.

A cocktail rum from the Dominican that's very flexible , wouldn't really try neat but excellent in a cheap old fashioned or a Hemingway .

Just an alcohol. Not much in the way of aroma , nor for mixing and no way for shipping.
It comes of a cheap brandy, a little burn with little to no flavors.
For cocktails it adds a little hit without much else.
Bacardi is better.

My father in law got me a bottle when on holiday in the Dominican Republic. Dirt cheap over there, but even so, hardly worth the money. Doesn't mix well with coke, doesn't taste right as a sipper.

Zeker niet slecht maar om enkel te genieten met kleine zipjes is hij te zwak. Misschien geschikt om te mengen met cola.

($30CAD) Not a sipping rum... or is it? It smells like ...Brugal. I used to drink this with cola a long time ago.
I got the Brugal Anejo on a nostalgic whim for a mixer but had to try it neat and was surprised with how little burn there was. A bit of heat at the end but easy enough to drink straight up. Nothing really pops out expect that familiar Brugal floral note. Then, where the usual sweetness comes in (in sweet rums), still nothing.
I would like to compare this to Appleton Estate Signature. They are both distinct and simple clean rums in my books. Looking forward to trying the 1888 from Brugal.

One of the first none-bacardi rums that I’ve tasted while starting my adventure with rums. This one was one of the biggest disappointments. Truly flat in smell and taste at least for me. Nothing special, however my wife loves it ;).

Erg lekkere en lichte rum. Drinkt makkelijk weg met een heerlijk aroma.
