Brugal Añejo rum

Brugal Añejo

Dominican Republic | Gold | 40% ABV

Brugal Anejo rum is a blend of rums aged 3 to 5 years in used American white Oak barrels that previously held whiskey and bourbon.

The rum is produced in the Dominican Republic by Brugal & Co., a company that was founded in the late 1800s by the Spaniard Andrés Brugal Montaner. Today, the Brugal rum company remains largely in the control of Montaner's direct descendants.

Great mixer rum. Not one for sipping. Faint vanilla taste which works well with coke and in cocktails.

This rum is smooth with a great taste and value. Best bang for the buck rum that i have tried to date.

Excellent rum when you factor the price in. Definitely sippable - smooth and sweetish. Has a smoky note that reminds you it's Dominican but it doesn't overpower the rum like Havana Club or Matusalem. When you can get this for about $20 in the US and $15 in Puerto Rico, it makes it quite a nice purchase.

Be weary buying a North American shelved bottled of Brugal Anjeo vs. a bottle straight from the Dominican - they are different. The Dominican brugal has a very unique, sweet and smooth flavor to add a profile to a mixed drink or rum and coke. A little brisk for a straight sip, but a delicious mix. Maybe I’m biased as I was enjoying this on a Caribbean beach, but hey... can we really complain when our glass is full of any rum?

I'm not sure if I've ever had a Dominican rum before, but the first impression is very favourable. The exact lable isn't the same as those shown, what I bought is Brugal Anejo Superior.

In the Chicago area I'm buying this stuff at just over $19 a bottle. I've been sipping it with just a few DROPS of water. For the price I find it an excellent value rum. I'm a bit surprised by my fellow raters to dee it cast as mediocre; again it is a value for me. The flavors won't knock your socks off, but it is smooth enough to sip.
