Malteco 15-Year

This was the first rum I tasted, the vanilla aroma, stands out when you heat it with your hands.

Even the rum has 41.5% its taste is very gentle and soft, I like this.

We can compare this rum to the 23yo Zacapa and so did i.
It has a nice mahagony colour, in the nose a little sting of alcohol side by side with fruits and chocolate. The first sip: dark chocolate,delighting sweetness and again the little alcohol afterburn. Not as smooth as Zacapa 23yo but i might prefer that way. At least i know that i'm having a rum and not candy. Great rum and half the price of the Zacapa 23yo at least here in Europe. Not too common to buy tho.

Malteco is a rum produced in Guatemala, outdated for 10 years in oak barrels. It is highly appreciated internationally for its delicious taste, suitable for cocktails.

Complex taste, strong but still all the nuances easy to recognize. This was a very nice surprise if the comparison price/value is considered. Very strong for first sip but the taste is provoking my taste buds. I was definitely very gladly surprised by a complexity of this rum. Will buy it next time

Un super produit vraiment pas cher, je l'ai trouvé à 29€ et il est comparable au Zapaca à 69€!!!! ne pas hesiter ;-)

A sweet rum with the taste of vanilla and caramell. Also a bit spicy and colourful. One of my favourites. Not that hard on the tongue and a real good price. Like that!

This one is great and sweet aged rum. One of my top, so far.

Just as the well known Zacapa (also from Guatemala), the Malteco is not made from molasse, but from sugar cane sirup. This production method is a guatemalan specialty.

Nose: caramel, oak, vanilla. Slightly spicy. Great, well balanced body.

Palate: very smooth and well balanced, some hints of chili and smoke maybe. Unfortunately, the aftertaste is not lasting very long. But this is still one of the top rums I've ever tasted. Definitely worth buying!
