Although this rum seems to have its own haters club, I found it to be perhaps the best or second best I have ever tasted. I am sure it has sugar as most people suggest (that should mean little or nothing unless you are not serious about the experience), but it certainly provides an experience. Great for sipping, with Perrier or on the rocks with a hint of lime or lemon. Believe me, it is a great experience in the mouth, a demonstration of what molasses are capable of. There is caramel, cinammon, dried fruits, and chocolate. Smoothness comes with the sweetness. I hope there is a No. 2.
Smooth with a non-cloying sweetness. Reminiscent of maple syrup. My favorite go-to rum. I only have five bottles, and I don't know how I will make it last.
UPDATE: I now own 46 bottles, having cleared out the inventory of California, Arizona, and Minnesota. I'm also upgrading my rating from 9 to 10, which only stands to reason. If this is one's go-to favorite, then a 10 rating only makes sense. Otherwise, what does a "10" really mean?
I have found a rum that beats my old favorite, the 3-star Ron Barrilito. This is like a super smooth refined version of it, namely in the long tailed oaky aftertaste that keeps me coming back for more. It does have a sweetness, but is in no way as sickly or overdone (looking at you Zacapa).
Highly recommended, worth the extra few dollars for sure.
I had really high expectations and the Angostura No. 1 delivered!
Purchased a sample from Master of Malt for £8 after the trying the 17 18 and 19. It's spent 10 years in oak casks and another 6 in French ex cognac.
Nose is inviting with caramel and fruit and touch of complexity. Very nice flavour sweet and rich in the mouth wonderfully smooth. Just delightful to sip.
Leeecker Rum, süss und mit langem Abgang. Ein leckerer Rum für den Abend.
The maestros of the Angostura again prove what they can. Very spicy, sweet & fruity top rum, with a tast of the Barrel.
Very good rum, quite similar to the 1824. Very smooth and delicious, amazing. Although I prefer the 1824 because it last longer in the mouth and is slightly drier, this one is excellent as well.
Wow, many "haters" out there for this brand. For $60 online at the time, I figured that I had nothing to lose...WOW, when I sipped it blind vs. another brand, I was blown away. Months later, finished the bottle and now cannot afford it!!!
I was lucky to find this on a liquor store shelf that doesn't specialize in rum (I've heard this rum is discontinued).
Smells of molasses, maple syrup, almond, oak, bourbon, and chocolate. Taste follows the nose. Bourbon is not overpowering, but noticeable. I compared this side by side with the Batch 2, and while I thought that was a very good rum, I like this one more.
Caramel, and cocoa are predominant in my bottle, with citrus making an occasional appearance. Sweet but not overly so, an excellent addition to the collection.
One of the best rums I've tasted. The aroma doesn't tell that much but what I lacks in aroma it takes back in flavor. It's very smooth and well balanced.
Angostura has done it again. Much like the 1919 and 1824, this rum is the one you sometime have to hide from your guest. The Cask # 1 will make the biggest Vodka and cognac drinkers switch drinks for the night.
This is a sweet rum, if you find it grab it while you can. This is for the Diplomatico fans it's not as sweet and Diplomatico and it's does not have the orthodox Angostura taste. If I could award an 8.5 I would, just needs a longer finish.
Amandes et chocolat. Douce amertume de cacao avec une finale intense et exotique
Rating kommer i morgen når jeg er ædru eller lige efter

I thought it was completely sold out in Europe, but then I found some bottles on a German site to complete my last bottle. So now I have four of it.
In the aroma you smell nuts and it’s quite sweet, but not too sweet. The taste is very smooth, len and sweet. The sweetness is a little bit alike almond paste. In the finish I believe you can recognise both apple, vanilla and chocolate.
If you get the opportunity to buy a bottle of it, don’t hesitate. BUY IT!!!
Now I also have tested the 3rd Edition but it didn’t reach the level of the 1st and 2nd.

Mycket trevlig rum....
Den gick snabbt.. Jaja de va sommar o semester
Vanilla, caramel and marshmallow notes with molasses and spice finish.
To be honest I was expecting much more. Nose of this Rum is fantastic but taste has way too much of everything -for my taste. Some of my friends has tasted this and most of them has said that it is the best. I guess I have to learn to like it since I did buy a few bottles. I guess Estonia got lucky with this limited edition product since I have been able to get more than a case for me and some of my friends and there still is some left at the shop
I bought this bottle a few months back and at first I wasn’t a huge fan. After a few sessions I have really started to love the complex oak finish this one has. It starts with a sweet rum and finishes likes a nice aged bourbon. I would recommend this to any person who prefers whiskey and scotch, but wants to try rums.
