Origenes Don Pancho Reserva Especial 18-Year

Don Pancho is a legend in the rum business, so a rum with his name on it gives me very high expectations. It doesn´t hit a 10/10, but it is still a pretty damn good blend.

Nose: Sweet tea, honey and figs
Taste: So much going on. Hits of honey, dried fruits, spices and a hint of bourbon. Aftertaste is very smooth with a dominant vanilla feel mixed with dried spices
Overall: The aftertaste is a little to bland for me, but apart from that this is a really nice rum blend that you should try if you can get your hands on it.

I like the armor. A hint of vanilla and oak, it finishes like a bourbon, It would go great with a mild cigar

Sweet and smooth aromas of fruit, caramel, vanilla and a bit of oak. A very pleasant aroma.

In mouth you get some bite from the alcohol and sweet flavours of fruit and dark chocolate. You also get some oak and spice. This rum is sweet but not to sweet.

The finish is a bit harsh and quite long with sweetness and oak. A little bit too much oak and spice for my taste but still a very good rum.

This was a great rum, I'm not big in words when it comes to describing rums, but I'm trying to learn ;-)

Scent of leather, sugar cane honey, figs, Vietnamese cinnamon, vanilla, beeswax and saffron

Taste: Subtle and complex at the same time. With a certain initial sweetness on the entrance, it grows up and dries up to a beautiful dry complexity with dried dark fruit, spices, cinnamon, leather, vanilla, oak charcoal, and leather pale touches of sweetness and base of sugar cane complex and deeply sophisticated.

This is first rum out of 24 box, which is really excellent. Very very long and rounded finnish.
Not so intense on nose, however rich on aromas such as dry apricot, herbs, bit of smoke. Flavour is mainly fruity, withmedium sweetness, very intergrated alcohol. Lots of elegance.

Velice sladká vůně, první dojem z chuti také sladký, pak přijde rána v podobě tvrdého, nevyzrálého alkoholu v podstatě bez chuti...

Cannot agree with all those superb ratings: this rum is very sharp in nose and palate, long afterburn too. Strong smell of alcohol. Did I get the wrong bottle or is this rum just highly overrated?
