A dark reddish amber fills the glass. The potent aroma gives of notes of candied apples, tobacco, sweet english liquorice, cocoa, burnt brow sugar and perhaps a hint of citrus. Nice.
The taste is medium bodied and way sweeter than what the nose led me to expect. There's notes of cocoa, coffee, liquorice roots, lemon zest and slightly spicy tingles at the end. Can't help thinking what a shame it is to overpower an otherwise interesting rum, with added sugar.

Normally I like sweeter rums. This one is even a bit bitter but actually in a good way. It has no unpleasant aftertaste. Bit oaky, caramel, little bit cherry. I’m glad to have got it.

Very strong and warm alcohol at start, than some caramel, oak, even bitter feeling and short aftertaste.

Very good and complex rum. On the nose you can feel vanilla, caramel, sherry and oak. Taste is very smooth with flavours of vanilla, spice, smoke, oak and chocolate.

Pain d'épices, vanille au nez. Goût agréable. Se laisse boire tranquilement.

Smell like coffe and vanilla. Taste little sweet start, strong and little wood finish.
Initial aroma is one of caramel and butterscotch. .
"It has sufficient oak and spice to reveal some ageing but the spiciness has a hit of younger alcohol."

Sipper in the middle of El Dorado 12 and 15 8 out of 10

Oh Lord thank you for this great Demerara rum. I really loved this one. The first sip I took was meeting with some sweet caramel taste. I let it rest for a while and got some citrus, more caramel and definitely some oak. I find it better than the El Dorado 12 and to my opinion it is well worth comparing with the El Dorado 15 and even better because the oak isn't as dominant as the El Dorado 15. It works very well with some chocolate. Tasty!!!
Great Rum!! Give it a try is my recommendation!!
