That's some good stuff
This magnificent rum was distilled in Guyana in 1990 and bottled at 90 proof in Italy in 2013. It's a full-flavored Demerara bombshell of tasty oak, sherry, smoke, liquorice, spice - with just a little fire to keep you payng attention. Straight up all the way, it's a real treat if you enjoy strong rum with an unapologetic attitude. (Added sugar keeps it from earning a solid 10).
classic straight guyana rum. it is not a pure 10 because there are other Velier rums with a higher ranking in my oppinio. i felt this particular rum was to rough, it lacked a cerain finnesse.
Deep mahogany colour. The nose is on leather, tobacco, vegetable with well-cooked artichoke, plum, prune, candied fruit, pastry notes and anise, liquorice. On the palate, a certain bitterness, it is always pastry with prunes always present too. The final is average with chocolate notes.I was expecting a lot better.
This rum has a strong finish, some oak notes. I am missing a little bit of sweetness... but this is definitely a characteristic rum.
