It was for me the first rum from Caroni distillery and conditioned by Rum Nation in Italy. On the nose, typical notes of gasoline, oak, tropicals fruits, coffee and licorice . Very long finish on the palate with notes of oak and the smoked side is still very present . Great introduction into the world of caroni .
Being farly newer in the rum world i picked this up looking for a bit different rum. I read that the Caroni style is not for everybody and that this is a "light" version.
Well - when introducing it for friends i prepare them that it will give them a slap on the chin and then the taste rollercoaster will take them further away. Most agree on that and actually enjoy it quite a lot. I personally cant drink more than one glass at at time of this, but overall an interesting rum.
The nose is a mixture of sweet, fresh tropical fruits, oak and smokey, tarlike notes. I like it alot. The palette offers a bit of heat but is sweeter then most caroni's. My tounge pick up notes of light, but distinct oak, smoke, molasse and perhaps banana. I dont find it to be heavy bodied, compared to other caronis and it could perhaps be considered as a good starter into the wonderfull world of caroni, at an affordable price.
Not very complex caroni, but one that I like.
Pefect dilution to 55%, very very verry good choice and because of that damn tasty. I'm a lether junkie. This is the perfect Caroni for me. I love the dark fruit with this dirty notes.
Sometimes I just wanna jump into this bottle and sit there for the eternaty.
Nose: Gum, wild leather, currant, barrel, wood, tanins, tar
Taste: tar, wild leather, gum, dark fruit (currant)
Finish: leather, wood (tanins)
Very tasty aftertaste. Peppermint leather with a light sweetness (some currant).
Oh my gosh, the aftertaste is so tasty.
Value (135€): 5/5

Lighter than many of the Velier releases this one is often underrated, but the lower abv allows the rum to showcase some deep and fruity flavours alongside the more usual petrol/tarmac notes that Caroni is known for. A Caroni for everyday sipping!
