Not fantastic in anyway, but not bad either. I unfortunately had it from an ordinary drinking glass, so it might not have given it the perfect treatment, but initial nose was with a very strong oily alcohol smell with a nice round vanilla tone. Sip revealed a not especially sweet rum, lots of cognac cask and fairly sharp alcohol taste. A nice after touch of vanilla followed and lingered a while. Didn't make much of a stir with me though and it might as well have been a cheap standard whiskey or brandy.

It's a rasty rum. The smell is dominated by alcohol but the taste is much more smooth. Though compared to the normal Brugal the improvement is not enough to justify the higher price.

Smooth but nothing interesting. It is ordinary rum better for mixing than sipping.

You can sipp it neat or with ice, good rum but nothing special. I like it neet at room temp.
Goes very well as a mixer as the flavour is not very deep otherwise it is a pitty to mix with soda a good rum as it hides it's flavour

Decent rum, i use it as a mixer or to take to parties or garnerings. Its a cheaper rum to keep in stock

I see no reason to try this. A bit of burn and heartburn afterwards, nothing special going on here. The 1888 is at least pleasantly sip able on the rocks.

Very rich in alcohol, but that's about it. No smoothness or details of a richer taste.

Good value for money with nice neutral taste, good for drinking pure

Slightly fruity, but the whole rum is buried under very unpleasant wooden flavor. The whole brand seems to be riddled with it, from the cheapest to Leyenda, and I did not dare to go more expensive Brugals with this reputation.
