Fairly standard agricole, grass and earthy tones, nothing special separating it from the rest.

Visited the Longueteau Distillery while vacationing in Guadeloupe. Hands down the best distillery tour and completely open tasting bar. Karukera Rhum is distilled at the same location as Longueteau. Karukera used to be the name of this island before it was called Guadeloupe. Karukera Christopher Colombus 1493 was priced at EUR 70 per bottle at the distillery. Very nice and high end bottle and label design. Dry Rhum Agricole flavors complemented with grass, spices, citrus fruits and oak to the nose and palate. Quite a burn at the end being so dry. Rhum Agricole fan boys can easily add 2 points to my score.

Très grand rhum. Notes boisées, persistance des arômes sans attaque violente. Prix raisonnable pour sa grande qualité. A acheter pour les nouveaux amateurs de rhum désirant découvrir une excellente qualité.

This bottle has been on my shelf for a while unopened. Decided to open it cause I’ve got an opportunity to buy another one to a good price.
Karukera is the Carib’s name on Guadeloupe.
The brand was founded 2002 when Guillaume Drouin teamed up with Francois Longueteau at the Esperance/Longueteau Distillerie to create an Agricole made from blue cane.
It’s a nice and complex nose, palate and afterburn. The latter is also quite long. I think it’s possible to recognize oak, spices and fruits especially citrus.
