Enjoyed a glass of New Grove Solera aged 25y old rum while touring around the Palace of Versailles. Fancy bottle design. Very deep color. Strong aromas to the nose with surprisingly large kick of alcohol. With a tad more sweetness, this would be a spectacular rum. Right now its very dry and has a strong burn, but if you like your rums dry, add 2 points. Not my cup of tea.
This rum tastes great with a strong molasses flavour and a long satisfying finish but as its one of the oldest rums I've tried I was expecting it to be much smoother. Overall a good rum that I would be happy to drink but as it retails at over £150 I will not be buying this.
