Kaniche XO rum is produced in Barbados where it is first aged in bourbon casks. It is one of the few rums that is then double aged for a more mellow finished in Pierre Ferrand ex cognac casks at their location in France.

Wanted to try a bottle of this and did a taste testing with a few other Barbados sipping rums we have. I like Barbados rums as they do not allow any sugar adulteration to the rum. This is very smooth and had a wonderful blends of flavors It is a little sweeter than the other Barbados sippers we have, but then it is aged less, so I would expect more residual sugars. I would definitely do this one either neat or over the rocks.
It's a solid Barbadian rum—nice, mellow, works as a mixer or as a sipper. The only thing that's keeping me from rating it higher is the price point. If it were around the $25 price point (as it apparently was a few years ago), I'd consider it a steal, but at $35 where I am, it's advisable to save yourself $10 and just get the Doorly's XO instead.
Recommended by Robert at Total Wine, associate was very knowledgeable on Rum. As a sipper, it’s sweet and light with hints of vanilla, cinnamon and coconut. Bargain at $29. Cons are added sugar, enough to make it have a sticky feel to it.
Light amber color. Soft and tasty nose, flowers, resin. Pretty plain. But taste is much better, sweet and pretty simple.
For the price of 34 USD at Total Wine and More, this is a good deal. It really reminded me of the Plantation 20 Anniversary XO, a bit on the sweet side, a little less body in comparison, but solid on aroma and palate. Toasted coconut up front, with a hint of congnac (and a hint of banana??). The body is light but smooth. I really enjoy this one.
Smooth slightly sweet, nice sipper. Great for the price but no where close to a higher priced rum. There is a good cognac barrel finish to if with hints of coconut and caramel on th frint end, a nice sniff brings a cinnamony hint of the many spices in your mouth. I give it a 7 bcause it isn't quite the sipper of a few of the higher priced, but damn tasty!
This was a pleasant surprise. Bought it after recomendation. Sweet and fruity in a nice way. A great sipper!
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

I bought this at total wine, on sale for twenty four bucks. A fantastic price for an XO rum. They had it at the tasting counter and I instantly liked it, so I bought a bottle. It's good stuff, smooth, mildly sweet and exactly what I want in a sipping rum, lots of pleasant flavor, no unpleasant aftertaste. I don't like rums that taste like harsh lighter fluid, and this one goes down easy, not harsh in any way. In fact, I like to hold this in my mouth for some time and it's so smooth and tasty while doing so, mmmm, mmmm.
Edit: This has become my "go to" rum. My friends all love it, and they feel it's the best they've tried also. This rum is my gold standard, and I directly compare it to others. So far, nothing is better and I try every good rum I can.
