Privateer Letter of Marque Private Cask True Spirit of 1776 3-Year

Rums made for a liquor store can be hit or miss. This one was a hit for me. Nice oaky flavor, with a bit of an afterburn. If the cork hadn’t broken in the bottle, it would have gotten a full 7, instead of 6.5.

Not overly sweet, but very nice finish. Strong enough flavor to be good for mixing.

Great nose. Great body. Good bite. Good mouth feel. Notes of clove and toffee. All good right? Then the finish. Short and hard ending with more alcohol bite. The end isn’t where I want that in a sipping rum. Might be a 6 but this is a great distillery. I give it 7.
