Great color and smell. Caramel, banana and vanilla on the nose, not a lot of alcohol smell. Well balanced, smooth, sweet but not overpowering, and very easy to sip on. One of the few rums I actually feel bad about putting an ice cube or anything else with it.

I can't say I'd pay 80 a bottle for it again, but not because it isn't worth it. I'm just a cheapo that can't always shoot the moon. I generally go for something that I can live with that has enough complexity to comfortably call a sipping rum. This was one of my occasional upper echelon buys that I treat myself to rarely.

Don't regret it a bit.

The nose is subtle but pleasant, the flavor is smooth with subtle vanilla notes, it is not overly sweet and I really like this as a sipper.

Absolutely wonderful. Fantastic mix of sweetness, spices, some smoke, and minimal burn. This is a bit on the pricey side but it’s worth it. Nothing but high marks here.

This one is somewhat hard to find in my area. Having had rotten luck with their 18 Year, I had been reluctant to splurge on this one until a few months ago. I would imagine that a lot of the cost goes into the elegant gift box.

Well, after the first sip, it is easy to declare it as the finest rum that one has ever tried. Then as more air gets into the bottle, that initial WOW-factor diminishes, but without degrading the rum. I will buy it again when I am in a splurging mood and will take this one any day over any Foursquare ECS rum. Those have become nearly impossible to find. At least this one pops up every now and then on the shelves.

It is very good, just did not live up to the hype. It is strong and bold.

Flor De Caña has a very good catalog. This is the only one I probably won't buy again because it's priced way beyond what it's worth. You get a slightly less defined flavour from their 18 year at a quarter of the price. Far better value there.

Classic rum taste, smooth caramel, hints of oak.

Tastes like a classic, smooth rum. Problem is I just won't remember it in a few days.

Top-notch flavors, beautiful color and aroma, smooth and naturally sweet. What's not to love in a rum this good? It's not just twice as good as the 12yo, it's much better in every way. A delicious and warming pleasure.

End of the bottle so not as aromatic as it should be i guess. Discreet nose compared to the 18 years old.

Aromas of dried apricot and orange.
Long oaky finish. Woody, grilled toasty bread flavors.

The 1st reaction to evolve, is the awesome packaging that starts the juxtaposing of the visual with the anticipated tasting of this black labeled rum, the (130th anniversary label) it immediately signals a per-anticipated enjoyable journey is about begin. As one starts to partake, it is noted that, to enjoy the strong notes of vanilla & blueberry on the nose with the silky smooth long finish of liquid caramel and brown sugar, one must let this 9/10 masterpiece breathe, and breathe again a minimum of 30 minutes. I will sip on 3oz for 2+ hours... it only gets better & better.
