Opthimus 25-Year

Si le paradis des rhums existe le mien est en république dominicaine chez OLIVER I Oliver, j'apprécie énormément leurs rhums et celui ci tout particulièrement.

The aroma is nice and smooth , but perhaps a bit too neutral. It's vanilla and caramel that dominate anyway.

The taste is quite strong, making the whole experience a little fuzzy . It is a sweet and slightly oily taste with continued vanilla - but with a lot of spice to the end!

More complex than 21 & 18, the vanilla is still present, the oak wood take the lead with figs and prunes. Very long aftertaste with coffe and chocolate aroma but you have to wait and allow oxygen to do his work.

Nose, eyes and mouth! A pleasure for them all. Well balanced with a sweet and smooth body.

Volle smaak van karamel en chocolade en toch niet te scherp. Goede afdronk.

The bottle: An ordinary Opthimus bottle.
In the glass: Amber color. The smell goes against vanilla fudge.
The mouth: Vanilla, raisins and a pleasant sweetness. A broad spectrum of taste.
Aftertaste: A lovely long aftertaste. The Vanilla fudge taste comes back and stays a long time, when it starts to fade, it is just to take a deep breath with open mouth and swish it's back.

Summary: Oliver & Oliver has done it again! What if you could start as an apprentice with their master blenders what happiness it would be. Now I'm very curious Opthimus XO because if it hits you I get impressed

I love everything about it. From the nice botlle. To the sweetness balance, the afterburn, the caramel, vanille, sherry taste, the price, everything !
It was the 2th best bottle of the group of four people after 20 rums. Two of us bought a botlle. 25y for 80€. At that price it's the best rum i know. When i want to convince friends to try rum this is the bottle i use. Solid 9,5 ! Right under embassador and riise ultra.

Presentation of this rum is wery nice. Bottles shape and the dark mahogany colour , wery neat rum honey caramel vanilla what hits first. Nice rum

We have tasted 30 different rums since Jan/1/16.
This party is winding down. we may try another 30 rums, but it will probably take years to do it, not 6 months.
Top five for our group of friends. Based on perceived value, personal taste, and how much rum was gone at the end of the night in each bottle when we held a tasting. Just because the most expensive bottle did not make the top 5, don't mean it wasn't great rum, just cost more than we want to pay - I can think of 10 others we tried that I would not hesitate to purchase again, but these seem to be the top picks.

Sweet and very smooth with a long taste, alcohol almost not noticeable. A very nice taste and certainly worth the price.
