Tasty, but not quite great
The nose is not very intensive but quite natural. I got some molasses flavor.
The taste is less sweet than at the XO. With some pepper. The balance is not bad. Quite interesting rum.
Smell: molasses, caramel, oak, dry fruits, wood, some pepper, vanilla
Taste: caramel, mandarine, burned sugar, some pepper
Spice: spice, burned sugar, mandarine
Value (35€): 3/5
Tasted this rum for the first time last night.
It left me wanting for more.
The smell promises great deals of caramel and sugar in a delightful mix, which urges you to dig in.
The first taste is full bodied and leaves you content, makes you wish for it to stay and linger... but... it does not. It goes away to quickly in my oppinion. But then again... just pour another, and your right back in the game.
On the nose, it is sweet with touches of vanilla and toffee. The colour resembles dark caramel.
On the palate, Ron Esclavo 12 is sweet and soft with a flavor of vanilla and caramel and with notes of plum and marzipan. It has a long and smooth finish
A fine rum but needs to age a little bit longer. Nose: brown sugar, vanilla. Palate: alcohol, butterscotch, vanilla. You can feel that it's a young rum that could promise much more in taste if it could age longer. But a good rum though!!
