The mark on the label is MEC for Main Enmore Colored. That means we have a 28 year old colored Enmore in front of us and we can look forward to molasses.

Smell: I am greeted by a beautiful, dark Enmore nose, which reminds me a lot of a REV. I perceive dried fruits like dark plum, black currant, black strong tea, grape seeds, molasses, old Enmore wood. Dark barrel flavors are also pronounced with a little iodine. That's what you expect from an old rum. He is very mature and nicely balanced.

Taste: Roasted start with molasses, some iodine, slightly sweet with blueberries, immediate change to medicinal notes. We know that from the dark VSGs but also from the REVs. Sharpness increases, it teases the tongue, brings out dark barrel aromas, wood and peppery notes. Strong black tea, cold coffee, molasses.
In the finish there is typical Enmore wood, dried fruit, black tea with molasses.

Aftertaste: molasses, Enmore wood, slightly medicinal notes, some iodine

Conclusion: This is a very good and old VSG or REV. It tastes typically stale, as I expected it to be. I think it's very good, even if I don't prefer this overaged profile. I would have liked to have enjoyed it a 8 to 5 years earlier.
