The Black Palm 17th Rum was distilled from molasses, which was imported from the Caribbean, in Germany. The rum was allowed to store in a mulberry tree barrel for an unspecified time. After storage, the rum is bottled without additives, dyes and without cold filtration in 0.5l bottles with 42% alcohol. The limited small batch bottling is labeled by hand. I have bottle 35/74 from batch 2. The rum is 100% handmade.

The rum needs some time to breathe in the glass. The rum is very wonderfully fruity with a distinct citrus note. Bright and light the aromas are reminiscent of a fresh fruit salad. On the palate, this impression is repeated. Although I can not quite fully pack the flavors here. Fruity with a mild wood spice and light tannins, the rum is quite appealing. The rum is nice and dry and shows a slight sweetness. The finish has mainly soft bitter substances with a slight fruitiness. The aftertaste is short and dry. Here the rum loses some of its radiance.

For 30-40 euros, the Black Palm offers a great overall package and is an honest product. If you are looking for something extraordinary, this is the right place. In terms of taste, the rum is a bit atypical and a bit too thin for me. Nothing for every day drinking but when you have the need for something else.
