If you wanna get a sugarhigh this rum is for you! By far the sweetest rum I have ever tasted. More a liqueur than a rum. The taste is nice except for the overwhelming sweetness. For me there must be a fine balance in the sweetness in a rum, if it's to much it destroyes the rum. The smell is full of punchpralines, vanilla, arrak and rumraisins. The smell is the same as the taste. This is a overpriced rum, not worth the money. Maybe the other A. H. Rise rums are better.

Touto metodou se vyrábí úžasný rum extrémně tmavé až téměř černé barvy s tóny kávy, anýzu, lékořice, spáleného karamelu, melasy, koření a cedru.

Rum tasting in Helsinki started with A. H. Riise Royal Danish Navy Rum. Pretty nice bottle and label design. Light golden color. Strong and offputting artificial caramel sweetness to your nose and palate when neat sipped. Sweet ending.

A. H. Riise have risen in popularity in recent years, especially in my home country of Denmark, but the sad truth is, that this bottle have as little to do with rum as it has to do with Denmark.

Nose: Very sugary smell with notes of orange and a small hint of liquorice
Taste: Big load of sugar and caramel with small subtle hints of black liquorice and mocca
Overall: This is a very popular rum, but it is really not for me in any way. I simply don´t get the hype. It has little to do with both navy-style, Denmark or even rum in general.

The A. H. Riise Riyal Danish Navy comes from the Virgin Islands. It is said to have been stored in oak barrels for up to 20 years. The original recipe is a big secret, but one should not forget that A. H. Riise was a pharmacist and the addition of herbs and other substances was his business. Therefore, it is probably a spiced rum. Sugar caramel and a borderline high sugar content of 66g/l is guaranteed.

In the nose it is clear that something is not right here. Powerful almost biting aromas flow out of the glass. Sugar, molasses, honey, caramel, lots of fruit like orange and other citrus fruits. Who has already had one or the other rum in the nose, will notice that it seems artificial. On the palate I immediately had the thought that I drink a liqueur. Sugar-sweet, the rum is very sticky in the mouth. Fruit and a lot of vanilla is notable. This combination is reminiscent of fruit gum. Some spice enhances it minimally. The liqueur, I mean rum is quite mild. In the Finish you have to endure the aroma chaos with the heavy sweetness before the Horror ends.

Without being disrespectful, it is one of the few bottles where I have considered getting rid of it. The Royal Navy Rum is a borderline box. A mecca for the fans of extra sweet sweet rums who do not give a damn. Far away from what i appreciate and like. Absolutely creepy and in my opinion no rum at all.

On the nose, fake orange aroma, on the palate, liquid candy. Has over 100 g/l of added sugar, which rivals Coca Cola and other soft drinks. I would not have a problem with this, if it was marketed as liquid candy, but this is marketed as rum, which it most definitely is not. The very notion that sailors would drink this sugary pudding is ridiculous. If you want good navy style rum, go for Pusser's Gunpowder, OVD or Woods. Stay away from this.

Way to sugary to be considered for drinking. Simply horrendous in all aspects. Feel sorry for the Danish sailors if this was an actual navy rum.
