Of the three cachacas I've tried, this is good and the least expensive. It's flavorful and reasonably smooth. While I like this on the rocks or in a capairina, my favorite is as a substitute for tequila in a margarita. Try it according to the clasic recipe with equal parts lime juice, Cointreau (or orange curacoa in a pinch) and cachaca instead of tequila.

That IS why you're buying a cachaca, after all. It's a bit hot ethanol-y, with some metallic notes, and nothing of significant note going on in the flavor profile. But it absolutely works to make a good caipirinha, so it's hard not to recommend for that use. But honestly, that's most low-cost cachacas.

On the nose, I get ethanol and vanilla. The mouth feel is oily. I get a little hint of licorice up front that turns into a grassy/minty note.

Tasted 2/2/20 at Laka Lono, which was also Super Bowl Sunday and of course Ground Hogs Day.
From the notes: This rum has a distilled metal flavor with dust aftertaste. Somehow I like it.

Tasted at Laka Lono on 11/12/19. Whoa, this is bad. Synthetic cyclomate aroma. Very bereft of flavor. Finishes with a bit of smokiness (burned rubber?). Could this be the vodka of cachaca?

It also has nothing special when tasted neat (just like Cachaça 51). Another good Cachaça for the famous "caipirinha".

I picked this up because I saw Fogo de Chao making a Caipirinha and it looked good. My local store had this and another brand. I grabbed the clear and cheaper brand. It's my new go to drink for the Summer heat. Fantastic drink. Over rocks, it is a bit "raw." a bit of a alcohol bite, a bit of an aftertaste to separate it from rum. Got a vacation coming up and I'll give a couple varieties a try in my Caipirinha.
