Light vanilla nose. Subtle caramel that moves on to spices and finishes with vanilla for me. As good on its own as it is mixing.

Very decent rum, but nothing special about it really.

Light golden brown colour. Some apricot, bread, and maybe a hint of candied citrus on the nose. On the tongue it is dry, with some burnt sugar appearing. Somewhat of a bitter taste that I cannot place appears as well. Just enough burn going down to make it worthwhile. Mixes well with some ginger beer. But not good enough on its own to be a bargain sipper like El Dorado 12 or Havana Club 7,

I won’t mind drinking this all night. Great on ice, and on a warm summer night!

Angostura 7 y.o. is not the best Angostura rum. But it's great rum with light raisins aftertaste. Not so rich and aromatic like 1824, but it has no claim to be as good as 1824.

Decent enough mixer, gets much better if you let it breathe for a while. Bit of tobacco and toffee, you can tase more vanilla the longer it breathes.

Round rum, medium dry easy to drink. Nose on roasted banana and spices. Good length in the mouth with a final on the spices. A great value for the price from a renowned distillery.

Tasted at Laka Lono on 10/10/22. Buttermint sweet aroma. Sweetness and smooth if the redcap version. The black label is hot and hard. What’s going on with two of the same name?
Retasted on 10/17/23- still hot for only 86 proof. But I get quite a bit more spice notes now- clove nutmeg and cinnamon. The sweetness is their mid palate, but the finishing pepper burn still dominates. No change from my previous rating of 7.
