In Belize tasting rum. The Fair Belizean extra old is a nicer mote full bodied rum with a better flavor profile. This one is unbalanced and bland. No finish. Last Fair rum in this bar and the bartender had to pull thus down from a top shelf adding “Salvadoran rum is no good”. LOL.

Bought along with the Fair Paraguay. This is a little older, darker in colour, richer, softer (even at 44% vs 40% of the Paraguay) and all together, a lot lot better than the Fair Paraguay.

Aged in Bourbon casks, this has a richness to the youngish rum that gives power and length. At £36 it isn't overly cheap, and I feel that there are better rums out there. I'd like this to be aged to maybe a 10yo as added softness and complexity would I feel make this a really good rum. As it is, it cannot escape it's youthfulness.

I feel it plays too much on the Fair Trade aspect of the rum, but this is significantly better than the slightly cheaper, younger Paraguay XO.

EDIT: now that the rum has opened up, its flaws are there to see. Young spirit with a fair amount of sugar added. Suspect too, that this has been colour added to it as well. Basically both the Fair Rums have failed the most basic of tests - will I buy again? The answer is a very emphatic "no".
