Ethically sourced from producers, but how ethical is it's XO name??

The nose doesn't seem to suggest that it is that old. XO. It's really not that appealing. States that it is aged in whisky barrels but all I can get is young rum on the nose, with quite a nice hint of fruit on it. Looking up about it, it states aged between 2-5 years.,
So let's get this right....Extra Old/XO might be considered to be a 6yo. But as this is a 2-5 year old, the AYS means it is a 2 year old. And when do 2 year old get considered to be Extra Old? Hugely disingenuous labelling, one that really needs to have regulation to cut it out.
On the pallet, the fruit and young spirit aren't too bad, but it is what it is, a young rum. There is a dirty, mustiness to it, that if it was a bottle of wine, I would suggest it would be lightly corked = maybe this bottle is?? Reminds me more of an agricole.
Drinkable but not very good, and at GBP32 there are far better rums out there. Thank God they bottled it at 40% and no higher.
EDIT: I hate to waste a rum, but I think I've found a way to drink it. 3 parts this, to 1 part Pusser's British Navy (54.5%). The nasty young nose still comes through a bit too much, but the Pusser's definitely improves the body. Might have to tweak it a bit and go 2:1 rather than 3:1.
EDIT2: I've found a better blend. 3:1 with the 1 part being a Guyanese. Quite a good Guyanese, but as it's not really my style I don't consider it a waste. Will get through this bottle soon enough.....and then that's it. Fair rums aren't for me.
