Liquormacher Barrel Aged 3-Year

The rum is bottled by a local bottler in my hometown. The unnamed rum from the Caribbean is stored in oak barrels for three years and bottled with 40% alcohol. I would suspect that it is slightly sweetened. The 500ml bottle is quite appealing. Especially since I have the same postcode 😅.

The nose tells the origin of the rum immediately. The rum must come from Jamaica. Fresh fruity notes with mint and a distinct ester, varnish note come from the glass. Here the rum does a lot of things right. Unfortunately, not much comes of the palate. For 40%, it is quite sharp and really watery. The Ester notes are only slightly perceptible. The fruit is not very present either. An indefinable sweetness occurs and accompanies the rum all the way to the finish. Here the rum falls apart. For pure drinking, this rum is not my first choice. In Cola the rum is very good and everything fits here. My new mixer. All in all the rum is in the solid lower midfield.

Der Rum wird von einem lokalen Abfüller in meiner Heimatstadt abgefüllt. Der nicht benannte Rum aus der Karibik wird drei Jahre im Eichenfass gelagert und mit 40% Alkohol abgefüllt. Ich würde vermuten, das er leicht gesüßt ist. Die 500ml Flasche ist durchaus ansprechend. Vor allem da ich die Gleiche Postleitzahl habe 😅.

Die Nase verratet die Herkunft sofort. Der Rum muss aus Jamaika kommen. Frische fruchtige Noten mit Minze und einer deutlichen Ester, Lack Note kommen aus dem Glas. Hier macht der Rum vieles richtig. Am Gaumen kommt dann leider nicht viel. Für 40% ist er durchaus scharf und wirklich wässrig. Die Ester Noten sind nur gering wahrnehmbar. Auch die Frucht ist nicht sehr präsent. Eine undefinierbare Süße tritt auf und begleitet den Rum den gesamten Weg bis zum Abgang. Das passt nicht ganz zusammen. Zum pur trinken ist das schon grenzwertig. Aber durchaus machbar. In Cola ist der Rum sehr gut und hier passt alles. Mein neuer Mixer. Alles im einen solides unteres Mittelfeld.
