This decanter is a beautiful work of art, and the elixir in it superb. I bought it the day my daughter was born and was saving it till the day she was married. Unfortunate life took a horrible turn and we uncorked it and drank it after her funeral. I guess 20 additional years in ceramic with a real cork in Florida did not fare well and lost another 30% to the angels. The nectar that was left was much stronger than the bottle proof and had an intensity I have only had one more time. Typical of Nelson’s blood 54% but on crack, I’m sure e could have lit the bottle on fire.
I had the same thing happen with a bottle of Trafalgar so be careful with holding on to rum in ceramic bottles and real cork too long.
