Tried this 10 yr old rum at the Mt Uncle Distillery in far north Queensland. An accidental find of 2 barrels only of the original 5 yr Iridium left somewhere for 10 yrs.. Obviously more dry and woody and slightly stronger than the original. Barrels used were red wine and no additives were used. Pure rum , nice taste , plum like , spicey , and quite whisky ish like the Iridium 5 yr.
Slight burn in the throat but a definite sipper , would like to have tried with an ice cube.. Because there is only 2 barrels about , its very expensive for a 10 yr old rum ! Worth a try anyhow..
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

This rum comes from FNQ (Far North Queensland), which is Mt Uncle Distillery, they also do gin, whiskey and vodka. So, its surprising that such a good rum comes from such a diverse distillery.
To the nose there is some soap, cinnamon and allspice, with some plum and red fruits to round it off.
To taste, it starts off smooth, definitely the wood comes through with a small hint of vanilla which quickly disappears as the spice comes through, then you get a the smallest taste of nectarine which is extinguished quickly and tails off with marzipan and that woody spice again.
