Today I have a rum from the versailles single wooden vat still.

The nose says in the first moment it's a MDXC, a molasses coated cask Diamond.
It's a little bit musty first like Diamonds often are.
I get the typical MDXC aromas but the sage is not that dominant and in the background.
The nose starts with molasses and sweetness of caramel. Followed by walnuts, iodine, honey, some dry fruits and the typical enmore wood (the wooden pot still). There are some typical MDXC herbs like sage, but in the background.
The nose is sharp overall and I get also some earthy notes.

The taste starty typical for MDXC with molasses and a sweetness of caramel, then it turns immediately bitter with iodine and green walnuts. The rums is viskous in the mouth like honey.
Then there is also some typical sage and spice. This rum is spicy.
The middle starts again with molasses, then I get notes of wood and earth, tannins, walnuts, iodine. Some spice and sage also.
The finish is again spicy and with notes we already had bevore.

This rum is very good, but doesn't surprised me. I would rate it with 88 points.
