Another review from my blog...edited for length and content and formatted to fit your screen...

The black cherry and vanilla so many reviewers went on and on about is not very strong at all when sipped. This rum is far from overly sweet. Is Blackheart sweet? Yes there is some sweetness. There are some very cherry notes hiding in the mix. The cherry is more noticeable when mixed with cola than sipped on the rocks. The spices in Blackheart are fairly subdued. There is no peppery heat to speak off. It comes out very Dr Pepperish on it’s own and even more when mixed with cola. i like to do my tasting neat or on the rocks and that is mainly what i am doing with Blackheart. There is a little bitterness lingering in the finish along with a subtle vanilla taste. Afterall Blackheart IS 93 proof! At the same time there really isn’t much burn at all. Honestly there is surprisingly little burn considering Blackheart is 46.5% alcohol.

I think Blackheart is okay as a sipper but nothing special. It is good though. Blackheart shines in any version of a rum and Coke. Because of the bitter tail i would avoid Diet Pepsi with Blackheart Spiced Rum. Stick to the regular non diet versions of your favorite cola with this rum. Blackheart is an ok sipper but there are far better….and FAR worse. Mixed with Coke Blackheart is stellar!

In the end i’ll leave you with these wise words in regards to Blackheart Spiced Rum “I’m a pepper,he’s a pepper, she’s a pepper,we’re a pepper, wouldn’t you like to be a pepper too?” Come on, sing along!

There's something oddly pleasant about Blackheart. It has a bit of an almond flavor, like amaretto.

The only problem is that you don't expect that flavor from a bottle of rum.

However, if you get over your preconceived notions about what rum should taste like, this is a sweet, spicy, and not-too-strong rum, considering the proof.

Mixes incredibly well with coke, but honestly, if you gave this to someone and told them it was a cheap amaretto, they might be more impressed than if you told them it was rum.

Overall, it's got a nice flavor and a surprisingly complex variety for something so cheap.

Cherry flavor yes. 47% alcohol is heigh but it doesn’t seem that strong, so I can easily go too far just sailing along with the taste. Good balance of spiced flavors for sure. The dominant cherry flavor keeps the spirit of other adventures.alive but I truly enjoy this as a semi-regular encounter.

first smell and taste definitely hit me with a cherry blast, not overly powerful, but well pronounced.
Really good value for the quality and overall smoothness of 93 proof. Seems like a great bargain for lower self rum.

This is a fine rum for mixing with Coke when budget is important. A little sweet for my taste, but quite drinkable.

I would rate this above the average. It has a sweet flavor. Nice scent. Ginger Grog is very easy to keep drinking without realizing how much you consumed. Bottled in Kentucky. They have nice dark liquors out of that state.

This however is truely amazing i was really shocked with the ease of the flavor to drink. The spice is perfect. Best to me with Dr. Pepper.

It's very sweet, has a high ABV% but doesn't taste like it. Not a supper and over powers any mixed drink. But if your trying to get from point A to B and don't wanna go to something heavy like a bourbon it's cheap at $11-13 for a 5th.. 1.75L should be around 19-21. Worse case scenario, you can save it for a lady friend who doesn't know quality.

I get a real cherryish smell/taste from this rum. I honestly didn't know what to expect but I was surprised by the taste in a good way. Presentation looks like sailor jerry to me. Great paired with cola.

Worse than Blackbeard. They stock this at Class 6's on Army bases, not sure why.. It's either the low price or the female on the bottle.

The 93 proof is the first thing you notice when tasting this rum. Goes well for a mixer but a couple of dollars more will get you a much better rum than this one.
