Thanks so much for submitting a report. It has been emailed to the Rum Captain and will be actioned shortly.
i am a absolute 90 proof drinker. it cuts close to Sailor Jerry.. but better!
Ok, so for starters I was informed that Blackheart was distilled in Puerto Rico which is contrary to my friends here indicate. In doing a small amount of investigation my sources in Puerto Rico seemed to be correct on its origins.
Blackheart is supposedly distilled at the distillery where Captain Morgan was made until it moved to one of the other Caribbean islands.
This is a very fine spiced rum that has notes of vanilla and is smooth tasting. Great for Cuba Libre.
I’ve noticed like several other Puerto Rican rum distillers their prices have increased since Hurricane Maria. Honestly I’d have to admit that it tastes much better that the price I paid 2 years ago.
Kind of like sailor jerry mixed with a little blackness in my heart
Very smooth, great with Coke and lime. Love the Pirate girl!
I absolutely love this rum - straight or mixed. The subtle, but noticeable cherry finish is the most noteworthy characteristic of this rum, which I believe is why it pairs so well with coke (as it makes it a cherry coke ; mix it with a cherry coke and the cherry flavors are robust and smooth). It's not very expensive, it tastes great and is stronger than many upper shelf rums. This is truly a diamond in the rough.
I really enjoy Blackheart....different than Sailors and has a punch to it!!
Im going back and forth between and 5 and 6 for this. I picked this up for $12 with an attached coupon that made it $8 so I really couldn't pass up at least trying this. I would pick this up to bring to a gathering so you can make drinks with it. It has a very heavy vanilla and cherry flavor to it, artificial flavors for that. Definitely not something you would want to drink on its own, neat or on the rocks.
This has the strangest black cherry cool-aid taste to it. There wasn't much of a mouth taste to it, but (for me) the chest burn is almost insatiable. I'll have to try it again as a mixer as most people here have suggested, and rewrite this.
As a weak drinker this is perfect!! It’s sweet and smooth with little bite. It smells so amazing. I absolutely love it so much. I just wish it were easier to find.
Very sweet rum that is strong on the cherry taste. Gave it a shot because they sponsor mma and I support brands that invest in my hobbies. If you like cherries then you will enjoy. Mayne mix with coke but likely won't solve the sweetness if you are opposed to that.
LOVE IT! ❤️ Thank you! 👍🏻 Here’s to a life full of fun for everyone...☺️
There's something oddly pleasant about Blackheart. It has a bit of an almond flavor, like amaretto.
The only problem is that you don't expect that flavor from a bottle of rum.
However, if you get over your preconceived notions about what rum should taste like, this is a sweet, spicy, and not-too-strong rum, considering the proof.
Mixes incredibly well with coke, but honestly, if you gave this to someone and told them it was a cheap amaretto, they might be more impressed than if you told them it was rum.
Overall, it's got a nice flavor and a surprisingly complex variety for something so cheap.
It's difficult to rate Blackheart on a standard scale because of its strong cherry flavor which is so unlike other rums. A nice change now and then. It has some virtue, however the cherry flavor is what keeps it off my list.
first smell and taste definitely hit me with a cherry blast, not overly powerful, but well pronounced.
Really good value for the quality and overall smoothness of 93 proof. Seems like a great bargain for lower self rum.
This is a fine rum for mixing with Coke when budget is important. A little sweet for my taste, but quite drinkable.
I would rate this above the average. It has a sweet flavor. Nice scent. Ginger Grog is very easy to keep drinking without realizing how much you consumed. Bottled in Kentucky. They have nice dark liquors out of that state.
After 15 years of aged rum tastings and after well over 300 aged rums later I ventured to try out the Blackheart rum for the very first time in my life. And the very last time. Such a burn at the end and the entire rum experience felt such like an immature rum being bottled fay too early. Flavor profile does not have any depth to it. This is a mixer rum, not a neat sipper at all. For your own sanity, go right now to your closest liquor store and buy a bottle of Diplomatico Reserva Exclusiva, try it out and you will never ever even think about Blackheart again.
This however is truely amazing i was really shocked with the ease of the flavor to drink. The spice is perfect. Best to me with Dr. Pepper.
got this one time when i was broke and it came with free glasses and i loved it its stronger than captain and mixes well
It's very sweet, has a high ABV% but doesn't taste like it. Not a supper and over powers any mixed drink. But if your trying to get from point A to B and don't wanna go to something heavy like a bourbon it's cheap at $11-13 for a 5th.. 1.75L should be around 19-21. Worse case scenario, you can save it for a lady friend who doesn't know quality.
I get a real cherryish smell/taste from this rum. I honestly didn't know what to expect but I was surprised by the taste in a good way. Presentation looks like sailor jerry to me. Great paired with cola.
Blackheart rum really brings out the taste of the coke ... I feel like I'm drinking a Coke and Coke with a kick
Worse than Blackbeard. They stock this at Class 6's on Army bases, not sure why.. It's either the low price or the female on the bottle.
