It's the logical continuation of the barcelo onyx, more intensive.
Still mild, but with 43% of course heavier. The taste reminds me of brandy because of grape seeds.
The younger Barcelo Imperial is balanced but a little bit watery compared with the 30th.
Because of the higher abv and more maturation it has more intensive aromas.

Nose starts with grape seeds, dry orange peels and some grains. There is wood and black tea in the background. Intensive nose for 43%.
The taste starts like a cognack with black tea, then grape seeds with some bitter notes and orange peels. In the middle I get some sweetness and again grape seeds.
Some wood is also there and at the end the same: orange peels, wood and tannins.

This is a good and intensive taste, there are some other rums that contains this flavors. Orange peels are always a good sign of aged tropical rums. The grape seeds are dominant.
Would rate it with 87 points. It's great and intensive for just 43%

Nose: black tea, grape seeds, orange peels, wood, dry fruits, some pepper
Taste: cold black tea, grape seeds, dry fruits, orange peels
Middle: some tannins, dry fruits, barrel/wood, some tannins
Finish: spice, wood, grape seeds, black tea, dry fruits

Sweetness: 2.5/5
Spice: 2.5/5
Fruit: 3/5
Mildness: 3.5/5
Complexity: 3/5
Value (65€): 4/5

This rum isn't 30 years old as many think. it is like 12ish. It's just a limited version and carefully blended, aged a few years after normal procedure in french sweet wine casks i think. But anyway, a very nice one if you don't need to do maths. You get 4-5 bottles of Barcelo Imperial ...and its not 5times better

La inceput am crezut ca este un rom de 30 de ani dar nu este. Dupa aspectul sticlei te astepti la un super rom dar din pacate e mult sub asteptari, nu e rau dar nici bun. La banii aia orice alternativa e mai buna.

Tabacco, chocolate with dried fruit.Coffee and leather notes. A very long aftertaste, this rum was formated for cigar lovers. Complex but not enough for me. Real rate : 8.5

I think it is a very good rum. Maybe over aged. I don´t believe the aging is actually doing any better here. I would just bottle it earlier and sell it cheaper. Would consider buying again but at a lower price.

Just like its younger cousin the anejo, this more exclusive product excells in holding back overt sweetness and instead putting herbal, spicy and nutty qualities. it has a light quality that I actually like, making it lively. Not as oaky as one might have thought for such old rum, but still with a vrty smotth and balanced mix of the aforementioned tastes.

There is a fair nose.. Some pure alcohol in it.. The taste is strong and have some nice tones.. But the finish is whats kills it for me.. Pure alcohol and the finish fades down to cheap moonshine.. Not much sweetness in it..

The nose is classic dominican and somewhat neutral in that regard. Light oak, sweet toffee and a hint of banana rise from the glass. The body and taste is medium full, soft and a little oily with deep notes of toffee, some molasse and light oaky spices. The finish is long, clean and smooth. Altogether it reminds me of a slightly more full version of the Zacapa XO. It's good but i am letting my rating reflect a pretty hefty overpricing.

7:The nose is greedy yet dry. A pleasant woodiness with hints of nuts (especially walnuts and almonds) takes center stage. Aromas of caramel coffee try to steal the show, but don't quite succeed. Slight mushroom notes complete the profile.
7,5:On the palate, the attack is sweeter than expected, and this sweet impression becomes more and more present with each passing second. The 43% does not allow this rum to descend into an extreme liquorice. There's caramel and, in the background, nuts and roasted notes.Hints of leather/tobacco underneath.
7:The finish is rather long and clearly dominated by caramel and nuts. The cask, however, remains in ambush not far behind.
A nice companion with cigar.

Typical Barcelo taste, only deeper, more complex in very interesting bottle
But for 30 years and price I expected even a bit more
