Aroma is nicely warm and thick. First taste is sweeter, but after few seconds appear pepper/spiced tones together with smooth alcohol "kick" (48% is exatly enough to highlight the taste, but still smooth and not burning) In longer aftertaste the nice porto tones are comming and last long. Very pleasant sipping rum for fair price (60Eur) if you forgive him some added sugar...

The Plantation Trinidad Tawny Port is a Molasse Single Cask Rum that was distilled in 2002 in Column Still and then stored in bourbon barrels for 13.5 years. After that he walked for 3.5 years into Ferrand barrels and finally for 1 year in the Tawny Port barrel. So 18 years of storage, of which about 13 are tropical. The dark red rum comes in the typical Plantation bottle, which is top. Lots of information are one the bottle. Sadly you find 18g/L of sugar. So it is dosed. But it is showed on the bottle. Respect for the transparency. It is bottled with 48% Drinking Strength. I have bottle No. 276 from the cask with the No. 05.

The rum is thick in the nose without being intrusive. It combines fruity notes with spice and a light caramel sweetness. Oak resonates. Wine notes are also recognizable. The nose is very successful. No alcohol. On the palate, the rum is smooth. Trinidad makes the start with tropical fruits. Not overripe. Then comes a spicy, woody barrel note with a little sharpness, which releases aromas of berries and a pleasant sweetness that dominates the finish. It is elegant without being boring. The 48% are perfectly integrated and i guess the sugar is helping on that part. The rum ends pleasantly and vanilla oak notes say goodbye from this nice rum.

Plantation has created a great rum. The Tawny Port Finish blends perfectly with the Trinidad Rum. The cognac barrel is rather discreetly represented. Clear purchase recommendation, because there is something for everyone. The rum is sweet but as a rum drinker who likes it rather dry I can clearly say that it is not too sweet. And with less than 60 euros, the price is also right. 8.5.

Also 18 Jahre Lagerung, davon ca. 13 tropisch.

- vůně příjemná, nasládlá, vanilka, čokoláda, starý sklep - když se otevře, vlhkost, zlehka zatuchlost se střídá s portským
- chuť nasládlá, pepř, 48% příjemných, závěr kakao a přístav

Alkohol: 48 %
Původ: Trinidad/Francie
Aroma: Cedr, mléčná čokoláda, anýz, kmín, skořice, koňakové tóny. Příjemná, bohatá vůně. (88 b)
Chuť: Pikantní, úplně vibruje na jazyku. Portské je v chuti, oproti vůni, hodně znát. Vyzrálé dřevo, portské, čokoláda, kakao, propolis, cedr. Pikantní, sladkohořký dozvuk. (94 b)
Body: 91/100
Shrnutí: Decový vzorek stačil na několik ochutnávek. Hodně mi sedl, pro mě skvělý rum.
