Rum tasting in the Finnish wilderness with my good old friend continued with Bally XO Heritage. High end bottle and label design. Light golden color. Grassy and floral Rhum Agricole flavors to the nose and palate when neat sipped. Mild but dry burn at the end.
A very pleasant and crisp rum from Martinique. J Bally I hold for one of the top three estiller of Martinique. This selected aged rum has a very pleasant ose and palet.
It represents the crisp dry and none molasses rum that I appreciate with Martiniquan rum.
For you who doesent like your rum too sweet from molasses this is a great choice. (as well as rum from St.Lucia, Jamaica and Barbados)
Rhum J. Bally (Simon Distillery)
Rhum Vieux Agricole X.O.
Origin: Martinique, Habitation Lajus in Le Carbet
Intensive, sweet and smoky at first nosing. Followed by aromas, which remind me of sherry cask whisky with a whiff of sulfur.
Smells like plum butter with cacao.
Very spicy with plenty of Indian masala, some black pepper and curry.
Besides tannins there are notes of oloroso sherry, cacao and toffee.
Long, dry and spicy on notes of toffee.
