Rum tasting in Sofia Bulgaria continued with J. Bally XO. Very nice and unique pyramid shaped bottle and label design. Bright golden color. Mild oakiness mixed with high end traditional Rhum Agricole grassy flavors to your nose and palate when neat sipped. Dry and very short burn at the end due to no added sugar.

A very pleasant and crisp rum from Martinique. J Bally I hold for one of the top three estiller of Martinique. This selected aged rum has a very pleasant ose and palet.
It represents the crisp dry and none molasses rum that I appreciate with Martiniquan rum.

For you who doesent like your rum too sweet from molasses this is a great choice. (as well as rum from St.Lucia, Jamaica and Barbados)

Rhum J. Bally (Simon Distillery)
Rhum Vieux Agricole X.O.
XO
43%

Origin: Martinique, Habitation Lajus in Le Carbet

Color: Amber

Nose:
Intensive, sweet and smoky at first nosing. Followed by aromas, which remind me of sherry cask whisky with a whiff of sulfur.
Smells like plum butter with cacao.

Palate:
Very spicy with plenty of Indian masala, some black pepper and curry.
Besides tannins there are notes of oloroso sherry, cacao and toffee.

Finish:
Long, dry and spicy on notes of toffee.
