I got a sample of this rum as a gift. I dont expected much, but I was surprised.

I get a typical high ester nose. I think the mark is above H. If there is also some rum from another distillery then it got killed by Hampden.
It's very fruity and funky. I get the glue and the fried pineapple. Then I get acetone, the acid and backed apple. The nose is sharp, fruity and bright.

The taste starts watery but again with Hampden flavours.
I get vanilla, some sweetness with pineapple (high ester note), then some tannins and notes of acid. In the middle I get the backed appel with pineapple again, some glue, some tannins with wood and acid. I think this Hampden is 10y old.
In the finish is some spice, not much, then some malt, pineapple, acid and backed apple.
In the afttertaste I get the pineapple.

There is the issue with the dilution, but the flavours are good. I would rate it with 80 points.
