Habitation Velier 2010 Hampden C<>H 10-Year

This almost legendary bottling of Habitation Velier is from 2010 and was made in the Hampden Distillery in Jamaica with the classic pot style. It is a C<>H and therefore a high ester rum with 1200-1400gr/hlpa. The rum was allowed to mature tropically for 10 years and was bottled at a high cask strength of 68.5% alcohol without additives or filtration. It is limited to 1215 bottles.

In the nose it shows immediately that it is a high ester rum. I let him breathe for about 30 minutes. I get a lot of overripe tropical fruit. Classic pineapple and banana. All fermented with glue. Lots of intense ester notes and lots of funk, but few barrel notes. The rum seems almost light and fresh when the alcohol becomes a bit softer. Then the revelation on the palate. The rum seems mature here with candied tropical fruits and burnt sugar. A great surprising sweetness emerges. The alcohol is perfectly integrated and gives warmth and unfolds the aromas. I also get some butterscotch and the fruit gets more fermented. The rum is full-bodied and intense and has a lot of funk. The finish has more candied overripe fruit, lots of esters but also more oak influence with a slight spiciness. The rum stays in my mouth forever and ester notes accompany me throughout the evening until I go to sleep.

An absolute dream Hampden. I can fully understand the hype and price development here. Not yet fully impressed on the nose, the rum shows an incredible depth and complexity on the palate. The high alcohol content is hardly noticeable and gives the rum a great texture and body. High Ester Rum at it's finest.

Diese fast schon legendäre Abfüllung von Habitation Velier ist aus dem Jahr 2010 und wurde in der Hampden Distillerie auf Jamaica im Pott Style hergestellt. Es handelt sich um einen C<>H und damit um einen High Ester Rum mit 1200-1400gr/hlpa. Der Rum durfte 10 jahre tropisch reifen und wurde mit einer hohen Fassstärke von 68,5% Alkohol ohne Zusatzstoffe oder Filtration abgefüllt. Er ist auf 1215 Flaschen limitiert.

In der Nase zeigt er sofort , dass es ein High Ester Rum ist. Ich lasse ihn ca. 30min atmen. Ich bekomme viel überreife tropische Frucht. Klasische Ananas und Banane. Alles vergoren mit Klebstoff. Viele intensive Ester Noten und menge Funk. dafür wenige Fassnoten. Der Rum wirkt fast etws leicht und frisch, wenn der Alkohol etwas midler wird. Am Gaumen dann die Offenbarung. Der Rum wirkt hier reif mit kandierten tropischen Früchten und gebranntem Zucker. Eine tolle überraschende Süße tritt hervor. Der Alkohol ist perfekt eingebunden und gibt wärme und entfaltet die Aromen. Ich bekomme auch etwas Butterscotch und die früchte werden vergorener. Der Rum ist vollmundig und intenisv und hat viel funk. Der Abgang hat weiter kandierte überreife Früchte, viel Ester aber auch mehr Holzeinfluss mit einer leichten Würze. Der Rum bleibt unendlich lang im Mund und Ester Noten begleiten mich den ganzen Abend bis zum schlafen gehen.

Ein absoluter Traum Hampden. Ich kann den Hype und die Preisentwicklung hier voll verstehen. In der Nase noch nicht voll beeindruckt zeigt der Rum am Gaumen eine unheinliche tiefe und Komplexität. Der hoe Alkohol Gehalt ist kaum merkbar und gibt dem Rum eine tolle Textur und viel Körper. High Ester Rum at it's finest.

Aroma: Nejprve technické - těžká vůně lepidla a gumy. A hned zatím je celá paleta tropického ovoce - kokos, banány, ananas. V pozadí lehce máslové tóny.
Chuť: Působí dosti sladce, ovocnost a těžká petrolejová svíravost.
Dozvuk: Švestky, závan nějakého koření, spousta sušeného ovoce. Vysychající, dlouhý.

Celá lahev
Navzdory procentům rum působí jemně až uhlazeně. Úžasná vysokoesterová Jamajka.
