On the nose, this rum only gives off light sweetness and vanilla. Harsh on the palate, finishes medium long. Definitely a spice that reminds me of big red gum haha. It's not quite an autumnal or holiday spice, but close. This would be nice with a cream soda or egg nog.
Expected a sugar bomb, was pleasantly proven wrong. Tons of wood and cinnamon, a tad dry, and develops into vanilla towards the end. A pretty good spiced rum!
To be honest my expectations was very low about this spiced rum. However, I take it from sale on Black Friday for 11euro, so what could've happen. Its a unaged spirit, copper pot still with a dosage of 20g of additives. Good with some complexity which is surprisingly for this young spirit, very balanced and not so sweet. In the nose you will find allspice and cookies. In the mouth start with sweet cookies, allspice again and with little burn which accompanies you from the middle to the final. It's ok for sipping and It's ok in cocktails. I prefer it neat. It's a bargain for this price.
I wasn’t impressed for the first time. But after more closely and attentively tasting I conclude that this one is maybe the most well-balanced Spiced rum. It has natural and smooth sweetness. It wouldn’t impress you like Chairman’s Spiced, but at the same time it wouldn’t be very exotic. There are some tones of vanilla, cinnamon, maize in taste… And maybe some berry aftertaste…
with natural flavors although it's 40%. Not to drink solo. Too harsh.
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

I just opened my very first bottle of bayou spiced rum, and mixed it with a coke, as i see most people say this is good with a coke. And boy. They are right. First opening the bottle i got a hit of vanilla and a wooden smell followed. In the mouth its sweet, hard vanilla initial hit with a spicy follow. After taste is spicy. This is my first glass with it. So for now it holds a 7. Later in the week, and farther down the bottle i get, i will see where i stand on it neat and on the rocks. Thus will give a more up to date, and over all more reliable ranking. Moving on up to an 8 from my previous 7. Had it straight and loved it. After having two glasses i realized how well it went down. I xould have just kept drinking and drinking until i got into trouble. But knowing how a good tasting rum works i stopped after 3 glasses. Splendid mixes with coke. It may best sailor jerry as my favorite mix drink rum. Definitely tops it as a straight up rum.
