Mount Gay Black Barrel

To me this Mount Gay tastes like a hybrid between rum and bourbon, and not outstanding in either category. However for something sippible, mixable and a bit different it's an interesting choice (especially if you love bourbon). I wouldn't turn it down, but I won't be buying it again...at $50 I've found several that I much prefer.

like this rum as a mixer but can drink on its own but think works better mixed bought a few bottles over the years but this is the rums I like not sweet

Nice nose, but taste is too muddled with no discernible notes.

Tasted at Laka Lono on 9/14/21. Rich gold in color. Marshmellows. Caramel. Toffee. Not much bourbon to the aroma at all. Flavor has a mixed woody and bourbon backbone. Bit of a hacksaw palate. Finishes with a cloying woodiness.

Found it too harsh, much prefer eclipse for the price

I know it's not the greatest rum, but for it's price it is all around very good. Not very harsh upon first sipping and has a great sweet warm aroma/taste almost immediately that lingers.

Kind of rum I don't like it, like peated whyski, not my favorite taste

This rum is good for it’s money. Tastes Well and leaves u with a feeling, that u should visit all the small islands around Barbados and drink rum.
