Mount Gay Black Barrel

Decent value for money. Better than the standard Mount Gay for me, but nothing on the XO.
I'd be more likely to mix than drink by itself.

I have bought this one together with its older brother XO, black barrel is of course less refined, does not share the ex-cognac blend share which added lighter tones to XO triple cask blend, but otherwise it the base taste is something you can easily identify with its more mature brother. Beautiful, rich nose of charred oak and fruits, well matching taste with some vanilla tones from ex-bourbon barrels, pronounced earthy finish with hoppy bitterness, decent sipper and good value for the money.

I was lucky enough to discover this on an international flight. Enjoyed it so much I bought a bottle when we landed

The nose is quite fragrant with depth, as toasty oak mixes with raisins and baking spices. The palate has lots of toasty wood too, and a hot Peppery bite on the finish, which detracts as a potential sipper.This is a quality mixer. It’s good but side by side with the XO, is clearly inferior, imo.

Очень близкая вкусоароматика к семилетней HC, однако спиртуозность заметно ниже. Если HC даже со льдом обжигает слишком сильно, данный ром пьется без охлаждения очень легко и приятно.

Good rum. Not too spiced. Easy drinking. Coke works.

Silně cítit po alkoholu, už Božkov Republica je lepší. Jeden z těch co si příště odpustím.

Very nice rum to drink with a mixer on a warm summer afternoon

Haven't had that many different rums so don't take my word for it, but definitely worth the cash. Drinking it straight has been a joy, a very tasty sipper. Cant wait to try the Mount Gay XO next

Tento rum mne velmi mile překvapil svojí jemnou drsností a přitom výbornou chutí. Jeho hodně pomalý nástup a dlouhý dozvuk chutě dřeva sudu je podle mne výjimečný. Barbados je prostě ostrov rumu zaslíbený a tento rum se opravdu povedl.
