Mount Gay Black Barrel is a small batch, handcrafted rum created by master distiller Allen Smith. It is a blend of both matured double pot distillates and aged column distillates which are finished in Bourbon oak barrels.

Prijemny, suchy rum, ktory sa na nic nehra. Som zvedavy na porovnanie s XO.
Nice to have in the cabinet... still for mixed drinks

I found this at the liquor store in Florida while on vacation and decided to give it a shot. I was not blown away but I was not disappointed either. It is smooth with hints of butterscotch and toffee with a light citrus essence. It also has a nice oak flavor from the aging process. I would definitely buy this again and recommend it as a sipper.

A lot of flavors.... very oaky!!
Alcohol taste is present, but, if you wait a 5 or 10 minutes, itยดs get better.
A cheap alternative to Mount Gay XO.

I was surprised by how much I enjoyed this. Dark, rich with great run attributes. A very good subtle sweetness.

Good rum mixes well and packs a punch at 43% can get this for ยฃ30 or less at the supermarket. Makes a lovely rum and coke and goes well in other cocktails also. The black barrel referring to charging the barrels first i gather

Definitely recommend drinking straight, a nice rum with a strong oaky taste similar to a decent bourbon.
