Wow I wasn’t expecting this to be so solid. Does not have the typical Jamaican funk I expected. Very dark mahogany color smooth nose, no hogo here. This is a very nice rum in this price range. Slight after burn but quite enjoyable. No annoying maple syrup tones, not sure I can pick the exact flavors after my previous sampling’s but I’m glad I got it.

Despite the great reviews on here, I was still a little Spectre-cal about a rum marketed for a major motion picture release, but You Only Live Twice so I decided to get a couple bottles.

For My Eyes Only, I was happy with the bottle look and style, plus the little Man with the Golden Gun 007 symbol on it. Once I popped the cork I had the Living Daylights shocked out of me by how good it smelled. When I took a sip the flavors hit me like a Thunderball, a nice caramel sweetness, but not too sweet, some mild spices and oakiness, but it was all so smooth I hoped Tomorrow Never Dies so I can drink more of this again. It has a nice, long flavorful finish that lasts almost as long as Diamonds Are Forever. And at $35 a bottle you don't have to have a Goldfinger to afford this.

Honestly I really enjoyed this rum and I think its definitely worth a try at this price since you don't have to win big at Casino Royale to get one. If you don't like it, well, Live and Let Die I guess. If The World is Not Enough for you at least try to enjoy this rum if you can. I'm going to keep sipping on this rum and hope I Die Another Day when I'm not enjoying this because I have No Time To Die today.

No gimmick here... a smooth and tasty rum from Blackwell. Very slight bite, and great for sipping or mixing. Fairly priced, this rum comes in a cool 007 bottle. Maybe I am partial because I love the James Bond movies.

Sugar: Estimated at around 20 GPL. This rum is fairly sweet for a Jamaican rum but the sweetness counters the bite it has. Overall it has a strong taste of brown sugar and a hefty dose of vanilla with a peppery bite at the end. On the nose it has that Jamaican funky smell that I would describe as swamp wood. It's easy enough to drink but I would add an ice cube. Nice presentation however it's not a complex mixture and it's a 7.

Tonight’s Rum, Blackwell 007 Jamaican. This rum was inspired by both the fact that Ian Fleming live in Jamaica and the movie No Time to Die. I had thought to buy this rum myself but held off thinking the branding was too gimmicky.

In the glass this rum is substantially dark. It give’s me the impression that it’s packed with demerara flavours. My fave by the way. The nose or bouquet of the rum is complex almost indiscernible. I get orange, chocolate and a hint of tobacco, but there’s more spices in there. The alcohol portion puts it square in the rum family and even a novice rum drinker would get that.

The first sip on the lips, puts honey on my mind but that quickly fades to reveal a delicate blend of essences. An earthy orange peel, dry brown sugar, some vanilla and a smidge of banana and allspice. A bit of white pepper closes it out. Overall I think it’s more dry than sweet and pairs nicely with a Cadburry Premium Dark Chocolate. I find the dark chocolate sweeter than the rum.

In the throat, it’s easy, not big burn. It’s moderate to mild and and likely and easy sipper for most drinkers. The finish is where I find this rum lacking. It’s sour and musky and a bit on the dry side for me. I realize that some people might like it that way. So I’ll leave that up to you.

It’s a strong 8 out of 10, because I like a sweeter, richer, rum. Could be served neat or in a cocktail like a Rum Sour or Mait Tai. This rum is number 362 of my 500 rum goal.

The special limited edition Blackwell 007 was created to celebrate the 25th James Bond film "No Time To Die". The filming of the new Bond movie took place in Jamaica and Blackwell 007 is the chosen drink of the new James Bond. It is a 2-4 year old rum that is aged in Jamaica in American oak barrels and bottled at 40% ABV.

Bottle: Black and opaque. Beautiful plump shape. As it does not come in any packaging, there is a flexible plastic mesh (similar to that on bottles containing acid) strung on the bottle to prevent it from being easily damaged.
Colour: Dark Amber. Due to the age, I assume that the rum has been coloured.

Nose: Very strong and pleasant: molasses, caramel, spices (cloves, nutmeg, ginger), overripe tropical fruit (banana) and coconut.
Taste: Sweet and pleasantly spicy on the palate. The rum is very smooth for its age. I could taste caramel, overripe banana, coconut and later on some slight wood.
Finish: Medium-long

Summary: For its age, this is a very above average rum with an excellent aroma and a very good taste. It is an excellent choice at a price of around 35 EUR (Czech).

Overall rating: 9/10

But not expecting a rum this nice. Especially at this price. This is good stuff. Great dark cognac color. The nose is heavy with Jamaican Funk, banana and wood. I respect Jamaican Funk but it is not my favorite. Many have way too much. But this rum has just the right balance. In fact, the balance in this rum is brilliant. Very slight sweetness, combined with ample punch and the funk. Beautiful. "From my point of view things are shaping up nicely". Some faint coconut notes lingering. Short but full finish. Smooth and supple but oh so well balanced. Worthy of 007. This rum has a definite license to sip.

A smooth and enjoyable rum. Hints of caramel but not overly sweet. Excellent tasting and highly recommended!

I really enjoy the Blackwell Black Gold Special Reserve, and so I was curious to find out if this was any better.

They were both very close, but I ever so slightly prefer the original to this.

This is somewhat like the Appleton rums, but with a tad more sweetness which I like (I find the Appleton's to be too dry). I found the Black Gold Special Reserve to be a bit easier drinking than this, as this is just a bit dryer (but not much).

Smells and tastes of honey, spice, molasses, and vanilla. A great rum for the money, and a great Jamaican rum!

I quite enjoy Jamaican rums, though I'm not a fan of "big funk". Subtle is more my style... This was a very pleasant delight. Rich colour, splendid nose. Caramel, dark sugar, oaky undertones. Smooth on the tongue. Not too sweet. Little bite. Alcohol is subtle. This is very tasteful. The funk is there, but it's not overpowering. It's a truly great tribute to the delicious Jamaican rums.

Caramel, vanilla soft tones. Bitter on its own. Delicious with a splash of coke. Want to enjoy this one again.
