Uitvlugt was closed in 2000 and was located west of Georgetown. The original still of this distillery was a French Savalle still. However, this rum is a pot-still rum, so not an original rum from Uitvlugt. However, until the distillery closed in 2000, the old double wooden pot still of the former Port Mourant Distillery was still in place.

Continental aging
Oaky, bright and sweet nose. Very strong with anise and pencil shavings. It has some similarities with KFM mark (also from a French Savalle Still). Vanilla and floral/grasy notes are also there. The nose became creamy over time, it smells like whip cream. A light sour note in the background.
The taste is very strong and also very brigt. With wood, a lot of tannins, a sour note, honey and oranges. Alcohol tingles on my tongue.
The tannins from the wood indicates that this one is old but the taste is very fresh overall. The flavors are not very intensive, I can taste the continental aging.
It starts with wood and the taste turns immediately bitter with a lot of spice. I like also such strong and bright rums. After that I get the honey, citrus, orange and anise.
In the middle the rum gets very warm, now I have very intensive dry orange peels on my palet. Again old wood with earth, mint and a medical note (like you know from the dentist). At the end are grasy notes with herbs.
The finish starts spicy again bitter, then with vanilla, sour apples, some leather and anise.
The aftertaste is great. With mint, tannins, leather, anise and orange peels. Very good aftertaste.
A good rum but not available anymore.
This type of rum is still produced. It reminds me of TRC Worthy Park 4y. But the TRC 4y costs only 25€ :)
I think 88 points would be a good rating for this old rum.
