Not in my taste, has chemix nose and taste, grumpy on the taste. 5.5 pts now.

There definitely is not as much funk as in some of the other Jamaicans. Fruity nose. Tremendously smooth…wow. Very good, and good value.

A nice experience, laid back. Some fruity sweetness, not too much. Nice wood flavors, vanilla, mild spices. Easy on the nose and palate. Smooth, very little in the way of heat or burn. You know it is Jamaican rum, but it is far from funky. Not overly complex, but quite pleasant. A very good sipping rum. I recommend it.

I have always been a big fan of Appleton Estate. Especially the 12 year rums. This Rare Casks 12 yo is nice. Good sipper. Has a little more heat than the previous blends which is my only complaint. Other than that, it's has a nice bouquet and enjoy every sip.

Another great drop from the quality powerhouse AE. Easily sipped and mixes well. Value for money not easily matched.

My first Appleton Estate rum and it was gift.
First it smelt a lot like brandy to me, but I gave it some time to sit in a glass and it developed some interesting deep aroma. Taste is distinctive rich rum, with some pleasant burn in dry waz.

It's definitely Jamaican. I find it strangely less complex and funky than the signature, but this is definitely the sipper. Up front, some subtle brown sugar, funky floral, and tropical fruit. But the burn sets in and for a 12 year, it's surprisingly harsh. Nonetheless, on ice or in a daiquiri, this would be superb.

Pretty nice rum, I seem to get more "hogo" on the nose than on taste. Light mouthfill. Brown sugar with some fruity accords and a bit of harshness on the back end that isn't overbearing. Reasonably priced $39.99 at my local liquor store.Overall a decent rum.

First time I tried this rum, I was not disappointed. Interesting on the pallet, with hints of vanilla and molasses, smooth, with a little bite, but not harsh on the throat. I was sceptical about its pedigree at first, but that thought was soon put to bed and it is now one of my favourites.
